What is Coworking?

DSC 0549 thumb What is Coworking? The Docking Station is a coworking space, which means we’re modeled after the great idea started by Tara Hunt and Chris Messina of Citizen Space. Rather than being another rent-a-desk space or lifeless telecommuter center, The Docking Station is built on these Citizen Space-inspired values:

Collaboration: One of the great benefits of working in a coworking space is that you will meet all sorts of people with all sorts of knowledge. You’ll have the opportunity to interact, exchange ideas, and grow significantly as a result.

Openness: We believe in transparency and openness. In a world where people are free, but ideas are not, only a few benefit. But when ideas are free, everyone benefits. Therefore, we encourage open spaces and discussions.

Community: We thrive on connections and mutual support here. Everyone gives as much as they get from our vibrant coworking community.

Accessibility: In order to be fully open, we must make the effort to be accessible to all. This means that we endeavor to create both a financially and a physically accessible space. We are committed to this principle and welcome feedback on how we can make it even more accessible.

Sustainability: Shared spaces are also better for the planet, and The Docking Station takes it a step further by recycling and being conscious of our energy consumption. As individual businesses, we also bring our own values to the table. There are good peeps hanging at The Docking Station, you should really come by and meet us.
